April was trying to fall asleep when her boyfriend, James called. She sighed and tossed the blanket off of her face, knowing positively who the caller was. But she doesn’t complain about him calling her every night. As much as she hates being disturbed in her sleep, she got a considerate amount of relief from his late-night phone calls. It gives her something else to think about when she is talking with James and completely forgets about the monsters that she thinks live under her bed.
She sat on her bed and reached out for her smartphone from the bedside table and looked into the caller ID.
“James calling”- it read. She hit the green button and put the phone on her ear.
“Hi sweetling, slept yet?”- he said, the voice sounded like he too was trying hard to fall asleep himself.
“Nah, clearly.”- she whispered, on the other end, keeping her legs in the bed and not let them dangle outside. “What if the monsters come and drag me under the bed?”– she thought.
“You know, I’ve been thinking..”-James’ voice came from the other side and penetrated through her thoughts. “We haven’t been on a movie date lately…”- he was saying.
“Wanna go out this weekend?”- he asked, sounding casual. James decided not to include the word “horror” in his question otherwise the answer would be a straight-out ‘no’.
April always liked movies—any type of movies including those action and zombie ones. But horror wasn’t really her thing. And James knew that. Ever since her mummy told her scary and bone-chilling horror stories in her childhood, those things made a forever place in her mind, clouding her judgment in everything she did. She does not like to walk in the street alone at night—not because she was afraid of rapists and criminals, but because she was afraid of vampires and monsters.
“That depends.”- April replied after a moment. “What is the movie about? Tell me the title.”
“It’s Free Guy.”- he lied.
April knew what Free Guy was about. She has seen a couple of her friends talking about it in their Whatsapp group. Knowing that the genre was action and comedy, April quickly replied, “Okay. I will go.”
“Cool!”- he sounded too excited for a normal movie night but April thought not to read too much into it. “Okay, then..” he said, “I’ll pick you up at 6 in the evening, and please, don’t tell any of your friends about this.”
April laughed,- “why not? The more the merrier.”
“Ugh, no. I just want this to be our night.”
They talked some more about the day. She talked about her day with him and felt the very welcoming sleep coming to her eyes and she hung up and went to bed shortly that night.
The next day James came to her house with his Jeep Cherokee to picked her up. He noticed the white sleeveless floral dress she was wearing that ended right above her knees and her hair was braided and resting on her shoulder. She looked pretty.
“You look good.”- he said, smiling.
“Thank you.”- she returned his smile.
They rode in silence, seldom sharing kisses and sideways hugs but mostly their eyes were on the road. When they reached the movie hall together, hand-in-hand, James told her to wait outside while he went to show the guards their tickets. When the security approved, James signaled April to join him.
April didn’t read any posters around the hall about the incoming movies, she was busy talking to him about the last time they watched a movie together. And James was happy that she was talking about something else because if she somehow knew what was inside of that movie hall, she would run away immediately.
They entered the hall together and seated themselves; April was completely unaware of what was coming next, and James on the other hand was surprisingly calm as though he had everything figured out. Some minutes passed and the first scene appeared, the first scary scene that she has never expected. It was a small kid of no more than five or six years of age, he was threatened and finally possessed by a demon, acting crazy on the screen and the whole scene was spine-chilling.
A few people in the crowd gave some shrieking and gasping noises, some viewers kept their shocked eyes plastered on the big screen, their expression was shocking like their eyes. April looked at James who was wearing the same kind of facial expression. She looked around the hall, at the people sitting behind and in front of her but never again at the big screen. She feared, if she did, she would pass out in disbelief.
April found her hands reaching out to James desperately, but she stopped herself. She turned at the screen in spite of herself. Suddenly, she didn’t want to scream or run out of the hall, she wasn’t even mad at James for lying to her about the movie. She just wanted to be there sitting in her seat and stare at the screen without a blink of her eye.
Something about the entire atmosphere made her enchanted, rooted to her spot, making her unable to move or react. Suddenly she wanted to stay or at least something made her want to stay. The room became cold, so cold that her bones shivered. She wanted to wrap her arms around her body to feel warm, but she couldn’t. She wanted to puff her mouth to see if there was any winter smoke coming out of it but she couldn’t do that either.
She couldn’t even bat her eyelashes let alone moving her lips. It was as if though she had gone into deep sleep paralysis without trying to sleep or wake up. It happened so fast and smoothly and she didn’t know how to get out of it. April has heard a lot of stories about sleep paralysis from her friends, she has read them on the internet. But she was lucky enough not to witness one until today.
April could feel invisible hands pushing her down in her seat. The place where she saw the big movie screen and spectators—where she saw her boyfriend, James sitting next to her— has now converted into a deserted island. She could only hear the sound of unseen sea waves and the laughter of thousands of men and women that came floating from afar. The leaves of trees raveled on the ground, and the wind swept off her delicate skin with a gentle, pleasing motion. She could move her body again, she touched herself to check if she was really there or it’s all just a nightmare. April felt all of it real and despite herself, she smiled but she was terrified at the same time.
“How did I come here? How can I escape? Is this a joke?”- she wondered.
The high-pitched laughter of men and women came from afar once again, made her look for the source in curious amazement. She stood up on her feet and carefully walked amidst the bushes. The night was dark and hollow and full of painful mosquito bites; she looked at the sky, there were no signs of moon or stars, only dark and dangerous clouds drifting side by side, back and forth. She trembled in panic for the first time since she got into here but she followed the voice with a brave heart.
She wandered around but the voice of laughter never came closer. It just kept wafting from a distance and fell onto her lap. Her legs wanted to give up, they were desperate to go back home just as she was. But she didn’t know her way out of this maze.
A voice came again, this time, threatening to strip her naked with the magnifying power of it. April felt a cold touch down her thigh, she lifted her dress a little to see what was there. But there was nothing. When she touched her thigh where the hand was touching her, she felt nothing. But her skin was tingle by an invisible control. Her eyes widened with panic and she tried to run as fast as she can before she fell in the grassy earth, in the bushes of white and purple wildflowers. Even though the night was dark and hollow, the lighting in the sky helped her see things—the flowers, the green bushes, the long enormous trees. Her eyes were finally adjusting to the low-light situation.
But she could run no more. A thousand invisible hands were pulling her down to the ground and she could only scream. First, the scream was full of horror but it slowly melted into pleasure when she felt the hands undressing her, ripping her dress off of her body, more accurately. Hands felt every inch of her skin, grabbed her, and propelled her to the ground, keeping her down till the lightning struck in the largest of trees and made a great thunderous sound. But the rain never came.
Ghostly hands touched her everywhere, she didn’t know where her dress went, she hardly cared. Lying naked on the ground, she let those hands touched every bit of her body. The touches were cold, sometimes burning hot, sometimes sloppy, sometimes gentle, sometimes hard. But she couldn’t see their hands or their faces. She could only feel the unspeakable sensation on her skin that was even greater than her sexual encounters with James. And the whispers, the unfathomable erotic whispers sent shivers down her spine and they felt right into the pit of her stomach.
Two cold hands grabbed her breasts, squeezing and fondling with absolute gentleness. Four hands were pinning her arms and legs onto the ground, disallowing her to move let alone run. April could feel another pair of hands setting her legs apart to reach down to her core. Several hands were touching her thighs and legs deftly. She let them. She had already given in long ago to the never-ending sexual tension that these hands were creating. She could feel cold sloppy fingers enter her body from her womanly gate though she couldn’t tell what made the fingers wet even though she was dripping herself.
The long-nailed fingers went into her, first one, then two, then three, then she felt the entire hand entering her body, leaving her screaming in both pain and pleasure. The hand went in and out in her body in a slow and nice motion. She felt another two long warm and sloppy fingers up in her ass, rocking the life out of her. Soon that fingers converted into a fist, touching and stimulating every bit of her insides.
April didn’t know what to do with all these delights, so she just screamed and cursed, encouraging the ghostly hands to carry on with whatever they were doing. Rain fell down heavily with thundering sounds but the rain wasn’t like any other rain.
The water poured into her body like the tides of ecstasy and a thousand ghostly hands carried it around to heighten her sexual joy. The hands rubbed her skin, up and down the length of her body from behind and front alike, pinching and rolling her nipples, circling her clit, massaging her labia, and fucking her with fists. She was numb from pleasure but the pleasure was so intense, it got heightened with every orgasm she had. She knew that all these desires will make her body sore and she won’t be able to get back home after this but she didn’t care.
The more orgasm she had, the more her body released hot juices, the more she felt amazingly comfortable with these ghostly creatures and the seductive rain, the more she wanted to be touched and destroyed. She pissed herself and pooped from vaginal and anal stimulations respectively. Her mouth wanted to grab something bony and hard but there wasn’t any. She just kept releasing her cries of delight to make herself feel that her mouth wasn’t alone while her entire body was enjoying the toe-curling excitement of her life.
Hours after hours she went on like this and the hands never stopped. If only, they got more powerful and stimulating in each hour. Yet when the rain stopped, the hands were gone but she didn’t even capture how the thing stopped. And she lied there for hours, trying hard to recollect herself after what she’d just gone through. When April finally opened her eyes, she saw a Holter monitor beeping near her bedside and her fingers had two pulse oximeters but she wasn’t naked, yet her body was sore. Her vagina and anus were hurting as she had just gone through child labor—as if the baby came out of her backside door as well— the thing she didn’t know how to talk about.
April’s mother came into her room and greeted her, “how are you feeling, sweetie? You passed out in the movie hall.”- her mother gave her a reassuring smile.
“I’m okay.”- was all April could manage to say.
